Ormond Beach

We stayed on Ormond Beach, just north of Daytona.

We often spotted dolphins jumping so close to the shore but I wasn't lucky enough to get a picture of one.

Archie Laughing

I've been wanting to share the sweet sound of Archie's laugh for a while now. Here it is:

Sandcastles In The Sand

When in Florida, we stayed in a hotel on the beach so fair skinned Archie and I could easily make several quick trips to the beach. Plus we loved looking out the window or stepping out onto the balcony to just look at it all. Anyways, during one of those quick trips, Jacob and I built a sandcastle while Archie watched and ate sand. We tried to stop him but he really liked it and was quite determined.

Out To Eat With Great Grandma

When in Florida, we took my grandma out to eat at the Lighthouse Point in The Village.

Archie had a good time. He loved chewing on the straws.

The restaurant had some fun decor like this fan made of oars and the mini sailboats.

This wasn't an oceanfront restaurant like the theme suggests but it was on a lake.

... with alligators.

Six Months Old

Happy Half Birthday to Archie!!! It's hard to believe that he's already a half a year old. We love how easy it is to make him smile. He is laughing more and more and it is the best sound ever.

He often wants to feed himself with the occasional bottle we give him and his baby food mush. In fact, the other day he threw a little fit until he had the spoon in his hand and the bowl of squash within reach. Of course his fine motor skills are still wanting and he wasn't great at getting much in his mouth without help.

With a combination of scooting and rolling he is much more mobile than last month and isn't content to just sit for too long. He may have eaten paper a few times by now because I underestimated how fast and far he could go! He thinks he can crawl but he tires quickly on all fours.

He still loves his toys, especially the musical ones that light up and anything new even if it's not really designed to be a baby toy. Ladles and whisks have been big hits.

He is definitely a mama's boy and I love that... most of the time.

And he's BIG!

At birth he was 8 lbs 15 oz, 19 inches.
At two months he was 12 lbs 14 oz, 23 inches.
At four months he was 17 lbs 7oz, 27.5 inches.
Now at six months he is 19lbs 2 oz, 30 inches.
That's the 75th percentile for weight and and you can see from the picture above, he is off the charts for for length. That top curved line is the 95th percentile for length which he was just over at his four month check up and he is way over now.

Railroad Museum

Today we went to the Las Cruces Railroad Museum. The museum is in the original Las Cruces train station. It's very small but there loads of fun old things to see and it is free admission (donations accepted).

See that top suitcase on the left? I have one just like it.

Archie enjoyed himself with all of the fun new things to look at.
There was even a toy train set to play with.
A dinosaur with the trains?
It's in a museum, so it's got to be true!
I better look up exactly how old trains are :)

Interesting how small Las Cruces is written here especially compared to Rincon. Things really change in a 100 years.
This mural is across the street.

They have a wooden caboose that they are hoping to restore.

If you've ever wondered where Archie learned how to make that face, now you know.

Family Photos

Last night we went to Young Park and had our first attempt at family photos. My sister helped us get Archie's attention and I really do like a few of them. I also found the shirt Archie is wearing here earlier that day- the bow tie and suspenders are velvety!
