City Of My Birth

After our fun in Munich, we spent some time in Göppingen. It's a fairly small town, just a short train ride from Stuttgart. I had to go there because it is the first place I went. Ever.

We visited the town's library. That's the neat old looking building above. They were very helpful there in helping me find my hospital (below).

Lets just say I was pretty happy to be there.

Since my family left Germany when I was a baby, these are really my first memories of the place. It was nice to share them with my wonderful husband. We did find the city hall were I bought every souvenir possible even if it is silly to have a pen with your birth city on it.

Archie's Eyes

Archie's dark blue eyes are starting to change. The inner circle is now hazel and his eyes are so dark it's difficult to really capture them...

With these first two photos, I brought out his eyes by adding soft light layer mask(s) of blue. The above photo I did a little color accent to really make them pop, even though his eyes don't look quit that blue.

This last photo is how our living room usually looks. Archie loves sitting and playing with his toys. And by playing I mean chewing on them.

Grilled Falafel

I had my first attempt at Falafel yesterday. I say attempt because they were good but not favorite or amazing or anything. Of course, before this, it had been so long since I had Falafel I'm not too sure if I'm that big of a fan of it anyway. I used a variation of THIS recipe. The biggest difference... I George Foremaned them instead of deep frying. They were healthier this way but not as tasty as they probably would be fried up. We ate them on salad with feta, olives and tomatoes.

Five Months Old

We love our 5 month old Archie.

We love it when he laughs! Tickling him and/or reciting his beloved Heidenröslein poem will often get him giggling heartily.

He has the sitting thing down really well now. In fact, eating aside, sitting and playing with toys may be his favorite pastime. If a toy or book is too far away from him, he will lean himself into the crawling position to get it. He can only keep his bum off the ground for a few seconds but I may need to baby proof sooner than later.

He doesn't seem interested in rolling over too often.

The day before his 5 month birthday I was holding his hands so he could stand (we do this often) and he started taking steps (this was new). He walked across the room all the while holding my fingers.

He still loves his toes and will chew on them often. As previously, Archie is ever so interested in finding out what everything tastes like. He now puts things in his mouth with record speed. He even tasted his bath water one day. He used his whole face and wound up coughing up water, poor guy.

He loves his baby food and so do I since it means he is sleeping longer (I see more and more 8 hour stretches).

We often catch him sucking on his lower lip. Jacob then calls him, "Lip-less."

Archie Tells A Joke

Open mouth...

insert foot.

Ha ha.

Okay, we may have spent too much time in the car yesterday.

My Little Helper

I recently went to photograph a friend of Archie's. Her mom said it would be OK to bring Archie along ( I figured it would be easier than trying to coordinate someone to watch him). I was so happy that he was so good! He turned out to be quite the little handy man; here he is helping me test the light. He new exactly what to do when I have the camera out- smile!

This is how he was most of the time:
Just hanging out on the floor with some toys. He is an amazing sitter now (at not even 5 months old) I place the Boppy around him for when he gets excited about something and springs backwards. He will often lean forward into a crawling position even though he can only keep his bum off the floor for a little bit before it just turns into tummy time.

Yesterday I went to make myself a sandwich when I noticed this:

This is the kind of Kitchen Adventure you probably don't want. I let the company know that they had printed the date on the bun and they are looking into it and will be delivering me some new bread.
