After our night in Freising, we headed into Munich to explore the old city and the Christmas Market. We went into a shop were we bought a music box and some books. We had lunch in the Christmas Market.

We spent some time in Munich looking at all the old buildings. I really love the detail they have on them... the color... the gargoyles.

Yes, this is me posing like a gargoyle.

Image 2000

Earlier this week I took my 2000th picture on the memory card I am using. This is it. It's kind of neat that it turned out to be a good one. You can see more from this photo shoot HERE.

The Art Of Egg Noodles

I am in charge of the YW activity tonight. I love to cook so I am going to teach the girls the art of egg noodles. I learned how to make these at a fairly young age when my older brother came home from middle school one day with a similar recipe. It was a huge hit with my family growing up and I have more recently become more creative with my noodle making (see note below). I will be using this recipe for tonight:

Homemade Egg Noodles

1 egg

1/8 cup water

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 ¼ cups flour (approximately)

Mix egg, water, salt and 3/4 cup of flour in a bowl. Gradually add more flour until dough is formed and isn’t too sticky. Roll dough out on a floured surface. Cut dough into ½ inch strips use a pizza cutter for speed. Place strips in boiling water. Wait for water to return to a boil and cook for an additional 3 minutes.

Notes: This recipe is really easy to change up. Try adding olive oil, spinach or whole wheat flour. The noodles are just as tasty in other shapes; cut noodles with cookie cutters. Remember, if the noodles are bigger, they will need to cook longer. Top the noodles off simply with just butter and salt or add your favorite sauce.

This is an old photo from when I made the noodles with spinach in them and topped them with a garlic cream sauce, shrimp, artichoke hearts and Parmesan cheese.

Kason and Keisha

I finished editing this shoot in record time! Here are some more favorites.

This last one was already on the Deztography blog in black and white but Jacob only likes it in color... what do you think?

First Sign

Last night Archie made his first sign! Knowing Archie, it should come as no surprise that it was "milk".

He just squeezes his fist 2x. You can see the sign in action HERE. When Archie was about 3 months old we used that website to learn a couple of signs ourselves and started showing them to baby. The little research that we did on baby signing recommends starting baby signs around 6 months. We decided it couldn't hurt to just try 2 important ones right away: milk and diaper.

Last night Archie was playing with his toys on the floor and Jacob noticed Archie signing. I looked down and Archie was starring at me and holding one arm with the other and making the sign for milk. He would squeeze his fist twice, look at me and then repeat. I had nursed him about a half hour ago so I didn't expect him to be hungry since he normally will go about an hour between feedings these days. It turns out he was hungry and was very happy to nurse.

Later on, I went to the Young Women activity at church and when I returned I heard from Jacob that Archie had been signing for milk when I was away. When I fed him, he just kept on making the sign for milk as he ate.

At four months, he is still very young to be signing so we don't expect him to do it all the time but we did look up a few more signs last night to start showing him.

Once upon a time (December 2009) Jacob and I went to Europe. To revisit my mission, see my birthplace, explore and have fun together. We flew into Munich and spent our first night in a small village near the airport. After dropping our stuff off at the hotel we took a nice walk in search of a place to eat. We saw this cute church...

...before we wound up here^ for dinner.
Here is jet lagged Jacob. He's drinking an Apfelschoele. we had some tasty food before our long night's sleep.

Jacob already wrote some great details of our journey HERE but did not include any of our pictures so I will slowly add more posts with more pictures.

Fun Times With Archie

I was going through my pictures and although these were taken about a month ago I wanted to add them.

I'm not sure who's enjoying his snack more.

Then there's these:

He's having such a good time and his shirt is so fun too.

Other Good Times In Alamo

Here is Archie playing at a friend's house. Most everybody I knew from when I lived there has moved but we still got to see a few friends and that was nice.

I used to work here. In fact, it was my first job and the fresh donuts are pretty yummy.

I'll admit it. I went thrift store shopping while I was there. Where else in America is one suppose to find kids German books so cheap?

Overall, I'd say we had a pretty good time but it's so nice to be back home.

Here's Archie so happy with himself because he can make all of these raspberry spit bubbles on his chin.

Memories is a cute little restaurant in Alamogordo. It used to be a house (1920's). Isn't it darling? We went there for lunch last week and had some tasty soup, salad and sandwiches.

I took these photos of beautiful baby Beija a few weeks ago but then I went out of town so I just finished editing them and I found a few more favorites that aren't on Deztography.

Four Months Old

Archie is 4 months old!
He has become very determined. He demands (by grunting and whining) to sit up when he wants to sit up (although he can sit for short periods of time on his own, he needs help getting started). He will also do this when he wants help standing.
Some new favorite pastimes include squealing like a piglet, playing with his feet/toes and his musical toys.
He will occasionally roll over both from back to tummy and tummy to back. He's done this since he was just a few weeks old but now he rolls over at times that he's not throwing a tantrum.
He blows mini raspberries.
He loves to watch us eat.
He's got an awesome laugh.

At birth he was 8 lbs 15 oz, 19 inches.
At two months he was 12 lbs 14 oz, 23 inches.
Now at four months he is 17 lbs 7oz, 27.5 inches.
That's the 90th percentile for weight and 95th for height.
We love our growing boy!

The Oldest Zoo In The Southwest

During our stay in Alamogordo we took Archie to the zoo.
He slept most of the time but Jacob and Dez still had a good time.
It's too bad Las Cruces doesn't have a zoo too.

Baseball Bum

Archie wore this baseball outfit to the ward breakfast this morning. What could be more patriotic than a big baseball on a little baby bum? It is one of the many cute things his aunt Eliza sent us.
