Happy Birthday, Mutti

I am this many years old.
I can't help feel that it's so old
but my dear husband is 30
and I guess I'll never catch up to him in age.
My biggest accomplishment this past year would be Archie,
sometimes I still can't believe I'm a mom.
I feel so blessed to have such an amazing family.
This coming year, I look forward to spending more time with them.
I also look forward to developing my talents in photography and baking/cooking.

Happy Father's Day

Jacob is an awesome Dad.
He loves to spend time with Archie.
He plays with him.
He reads him books.
He takes him for walks when he gets crabby in the evening.
He gives him hugs and kisses.
He tells him that he loves him.
He tickles him (no one can get Archie to laugh like Papa can).
He is an awesome diaper changer.
(I didn't change a diaper 'till Archie was almost 2 weeks old).
He sings to him.
He loves to hold him.
He cuts his nails and sucks his boogers out
even though Archie hates these things.
He helps with baths.
He built him a mobile with family members faces on it.
He helps me cook dinner when I'm feeding Archie.
He gardens so we have yummy things to eat.
He is kind, gentle and goofy.
I'm probably forgetting a few dozen other reasons
why Jacob is such a great dad but this list will have to do.

100 Days

We did this photo shoot in honor of the Korean tradition.
Read about it HERE.
I did look up red bean cake recipes
but I decided to just make some chocolate chip cookies instead.

I really do love Archie and his fun personality!

Sisters

Sisters are great. Yesterday, Vanessa helped me clean my house, she played with Archie and she modeled for me so I could get some new photos on my photography blog. This is a favorite but check out the rest HERE.

Toady

Archie wore Jacob's old toad suit to church this past Sunday.
Jacob's mom made it for him when he was a baby
and gave it to me when she found out I was having a boy.
I think the outfit design is so much fun.
If I liked to sew,
I would make him a few more of these outfits.

Gripping

I know I've already blogged about this toy once (see HERE),
but Archie's actually playing with it now!

He uses his hands and feet.

His strong grip.

Look at Mutti...

and smile!

Barbecued Pizza

Not pizza with BBQ sauce but pizza cooked on the BBQ. It's too hot to run the oven, especially in the evening. We threw this small homemade pizza on the grill. It gave it an awesome flavor. My favorite part: the smokey mozzarella. Tasty homemade pizza and a cool house, can summer get better?

Bowling

Jacob and Dez had a fun time bowling tonight!
Jacob won both games but
both Jacob and Dez got to feel the victory of a few strikes:)
Archie got some special time with his aunt Donica.

After bowling we went to a park and swung on the swings for a bit. It was still hot so we didn't stay long. When we got back home, Archie was pretty hungry because he wouldn't take the bottle. Recently, others have been unsuccessful in getting the little guy to eat from his bottle. They have blamed the bottle itself. Archie has taken the bottles before with out a problem so I thought I'd try to bottle feed him instead of nursing him to see how he would do. I sat down, cuddled him close, popped the bottle in and he started gulping right away. I gave Donica another try. She sat down with him in the same chair, cuddled him close just like I had done minutes before, gave him the bottle as she had just seen me do and Archie threw a fit. Jacob then gave it a try and eventually he was able to get him to eat a little. So it's not that the bottles are old or not to Archie's liking. He's just developed a strong preference to be feed by his Mutti.

Three Months Old

Archie is 3 months old now!
We love all his smiles and babbles.
He drools so much people always ask if he's already teething.
We think not.
He really loves his toys;
he'll explore them with his mouth whenever he gets the chance.
His eating style has changed, thankfully.
Instead of nursing for 30 minutes and taking up to 30 minute breaks,
he'll often finish nursing in less than 15 minutes
and then not want to eat again for another hour
or when I'm lucky, longer.
By the looks of his thunder thighs,
he's still eating plenty.

Peachy

I can't wait to try this peach pie I made this morning.
There's a flaky butter crust,
a sweet multigrain crumb topping and,
of course, a peach filling.
Yum.

Object Lesson

I taught a lesson to the Young Women today at church about the responsibilities of a missionary. It brought back all sorts of memories. I had so much fun preparing it. I even got Archie dressed up for the occasion. I made him a little future missionary tag and it was his first time wearing a white shirt and tie to church.

I think he looks adorable!

Book Fun

Books are fun!

I hold the book.

I put my nose in the book.

I feel the pages.

Liberry Strawbrary

Archie and I ventured out to the Las Cruces Library for some story time. A nice lady led us through some Mother Goose Rhymes and I helped Archie wiggle and clap.

As always, he enjoyed the new space around him that was filled with all sorts of new things to see. I'm not sure how much he cared for the new rhymes and movements and it felt a little weird speaking so much English too him. I try to speak German to him as much as possible.

My favorite part was right after when I got to talk to other moms and Archie got in a few drooling contests with new friends.

Archie, at just under 3 months, was the youngest baby there this week. He was not the smallest. We sat next to a darling baby girl that was about Archie's size. I soon learned that she's 6 months old. Archie doesn't hold any records for being a big baby, but I do love his chunky thighs, pudgy wrist and double chin.

After everyone had dispersed, we headed downstairs. I read Archie a few board books. He even looked at them occasionally as he sat in my lap. When I could tell he was done, we headed back for some snuggles at home.
