Blessing Day!

On our way to church.
We almost didn't make it because someone wanted to keep nursing,
but we did just 2 minutes late.

Once we arrived baby was very good for his blessing.
He didn't even cry.
The men didn't drop him.
What more could a mom ask for?

Here we are at Oma & Opa's after the meeting.
It was great to have a lot of family there.

Baby's suit is something that dad wore for his blessing.
The shoes are from mom's side.
Overall, a very historical outfit for a very memorable day.

Boys Love Their Toys

Our little one loves to entertain himself with this mirror toy. I'm not sure if he likes the contrasty edge, the crinkle effects when he flails his tiny arms about, or staring at the reflection of his own fist the best but it has kept him happy for minutes at a time!

Our Little Milk Face

Yes, that's a milk mustache!

Our little guy loves to eat.

I'll often sing to him a personal adaptation of "If You're Happy And You Know It". It's pretty simple really, "If You're hungry and you know it, drink your milk- GULP! GULP!..." He is often a loud eater with enthusiastic GULPS!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

We had a pretty mellow St. Patrick's Day.

We thought we would share some fresh pics of our newborn redhead.

Yes, the quilt says, "Kiss me! I'm Irish!"

Birth Story

Once upon a time our first son was born. This is how it went. It was a busy time at Jacob's work and he was having to work longer strange hours. It wound up that he was at work all night Friday (9pm-9am) and Dez was home all night by herself slightly worried that she would go into labor alone but she only had some cramping and very little sleep. Heavy contractions came the very next day around 2:30 in the afternoon. Jacob timed them but they weren't too close together so we didn't call the doctor until Dez started to show around 9pm. The contractions were still 7-10 minutes apart so the doctor sad we could wait or go in. We decided to wait and see if the contractions would slow or if we could get some sleep. By 11:30pm Dez decided that she was in too much pain and wanted to go to the hospital asap. We arrived at about 11:45pm. When we checked in Dez was relieved to find out that she was dilated to a 4 and 80% effaced. They would not be sending us home- it was baby time! We were both running on very little sleep but our little guy didn't make us wait too long. In fact there wasn't even enough time for Dez to get an epidural. It was only 4 hours after our arrival in the hospital that our baby boy was born weighing 8lbs 15oz and 19 inches long.
